Disgusting. I found a website, several actually, stating that a rice cooker would be a great way to cook hard boiled eggs.Read More
So, this weekend I attended my first Dallas Backyard Poultry Meetup.
Jeff Raska gave an excellent presentation covering the basics of raising chickens in your backyard. If you’re doing your backyard-chicken research, you’ve probably noticed by now that the majority of advice and information you’re getting is coming from farmers. Or at the very least, people with what (in the city) you’d consider a small farm. Jeff really brought the dialogue around to focus on backyard chickens, and made the presentation fun with anecdotes about his own experiences and chickens he has known. “Is this your chicken?”Read More

I began this website with zero intention of starting a blog. I still might never actually start the blog, but a first post is a first post, so I might as well give it a shot.
I’ve had chickens for a little over a year now. We hatched them as a project to show our 4yr old at the time, and also because we really love eggs (and pets). With a few exceptions, the entire process has been great fun and tastily rewarding. I wanted to touch upon some of the downfalls you may run into as a first time chicken-er, based off my experience.Read More
